Welcome to my corner of the Internet!
15.01.2024 - late evening of a snowy day
Typing it out this way makes it look like a blog entry - but no, this is not a blog (though I am not against uploading some ramblings every now and then). This site exists for a couple of reasons.
First of all, I always wanted to have a private site, but all the hosting services seem to demand an arm and a leg over the period of 10 years for feature-bloated garbage which I am not interested in. Contemporary Internet is an actual disaster filled with scripts everywhere, designed to make the most advertising revenue. I do not like that. I do not want that. Marketing has already invaded so much of our reality and I'll be damned if I willingly participate in it.
Second of all, I wanted to prove to myself that I could write some HTML code. Admittedly, I did not succeed 100% in that. This layout has not been designed by me; it is a template made by Sadness that I have edited to better suit my aesthetic choices. Maybe I'll spruce it up with more things later down the line. Hopefully. That is the plan.
Third of all, I want to have a private site that has a simple and nice-looking name. Thankfully, "neocities" has a really nice ring to it, and "myamai" wasn't taken here, so hey!
I plan to add more components to the site over time. There's this spreadsheet that I've been maintaining which contains plenty of long-winded video essays on YouTube (kids, remember to use adblockers!). A lot of them are videos I've listened to at one point or another, but a fair chunk of them are recommendations from friends and/or acquaintances. It will take time to migrate it, but I'd like to move stuff away from RAM-draining Google Drive tabs and into a more digestible format.
That's probably it for now. Thanks for reading!
